Default Anyone know this signature

I don't think this vase is murano, but I'm hoping someone might know who made it. It is almost 15 inches high, heavy, and the glass threads are on the outside. I'm trying to stick to buying glass with a sticker on it or a signature. Thanks for any help.

Interesting piece! It looks like a cross between a vase and a champagne flute. The signature doesn't look familiar to me, but then again I'm never that good figuring them out.

Thanks for responding, all I know is it seems to be well made and does have a signature which is what I keep trying to look for. Although I did buy a bird today with no name or sticker, but think it is murano. Price was good $2.99 but did have a chip on the foot, but still looks good.

It looks like American Studio Glass to me. The form, the signature and the threading all say that. The code on the bottom would suggest that it was a fairly productive studio. Have you tried Googling the intitials?

I thought the same thing and gave it a shot; googleing "BVP2042" didnt come up with anything. My googlefu is not so strong today.

Default Signature

Hello!

As a jr. member with little experience, I'm just looking through other people's pieces and taking an interest and came across this. I'm curious as to which letters of the alphabet constitute the signature. I was trying to figure out how the artist wrote his signature, i.e. from which point he started off and continued, especially as there seems to be an initial flourish on the first letter.
I've concluded that his/her signature consists of 'PLE' with the possibility of another lower case letter tucked inside the 'P' but then maybe not - maybe it's more obvious to a trained eye.

Just interested, not nosey,

Dawn

The first letter looks to me like either a B, R, or P and the last one h, b, or e, and I agree there is an l.

It also strikes me as an American studio piece. I have a vase that is an American studio piece and cannot make out the signature also. Don't give up though because when you least expect it the answer will be right in front of you.

Hello again!

Gosh! Yes! I can see why you might think the first initial a 'B' or an 'R'.
I was trying to determine where he/she started the first letter and then follow
it round to its conclusion but I came a bit unstuck I must admit with that
flourish at the top. There seems to be a vertical piece missing on that first letter for it to be a 'B' or an 'R' but then again, I myself don't write script anymore as I was taught as a child and I miss bits out all the time. I got a bit lost on the first letter, I must admit but I can see where you're coming from on either a 'B' or an 'R' now. Lower case 'l' still fits and I thought of an 'E' for the last letter because that is how we were taught to write capital 'E' at school in the North of Scotland, fifty-plus years ago. Maybe we need a graphologist on the trail.

Kindest regards,

Dawn

I like the suggestion of a graphologist! Signatures are a strange thing, of which I never have been that strong in identifying. I think the people who are good at recognizing and ID'ing glass signatures tend to see and match them as a pattern. It doesn't help that the signatures are done with a vibropen, which by its very name, doesn't do much for penmanship!
