Default Just purchased a Murano - Please look at the pictures and help me identify value...

I just purchased a Murano, of two large birds sitting on a branch. It is a very large and heavy piece, about 10 pounds. It has the Murano signature and it also has the sticker on the item. I purchased this at an estate sale and the auction personnel raved and said how expensive it was. It is a beautiful piece of art, but the bottom line is I want to be sure I know what it is worth. I can send pictures to whoever may be able to help me. I do understand that there are alot of Murano birds on branches. But I figured someone here could help me out. Thank you

Nice to have a signature. We know it was made by Formia, which tells us it is a nice contemporary sculpture. If you want to get an idea of the value, you can google Formia birds and see what the prices are. They usually fetch a handsome, though not astronomically high price. Hope this helps some.

Yes, Formia makes some of the lovest Murano birds. I like yours in particular because they have the smoked colored glass. It makes the birds look so elegant. A lot of people collect the Murano birds and in particular the birds on branches so I think you have found a piece that is worth while.

I'd say you had a great day at the auction!!

Try the Addison Collection's bird page.
http://www.addisoncollection.net/mur...ass-birds.html They have a lot of birds on branches that will give you an idea of its value. Some look to be made by Formia.
