Default Enormous Centerpiece Bowl - newer, I think?

Hi! In my research, I did find a piece exactly like mine on a website called "svazzo.com" - but there are no details about who is producing these.

This thing is 22" long! I'm wondering what the technique is called also - the heavily ribbed body is clear glass over a bright tangerine red, white interior, with gold splashed throughout. Bottom is polished shiny, not ground and matte like some newer pieces I've seen from China.

Any input on this would be most appreciated!

I stuck a bunch of photos on a webpage, to make it easier to view:

I'm wondering if I'm at the very least safe in saying that this piece IS one made in Murano? I sell things on ebay too, and want to be sure that I am at least giving an accurate presentation of its origin, whether I have the maker's name or not.

I have seen so many pieces of glass on ebay represented as Murano when I know for a fact that I've seen similar pieces at Pier One, Hobby Lobby, etc. Lots of things made in China that are remarkably nice quality - BUT NOT MURANO.

Part of me wants to assume that since the same piece is shown on a reputable Murano website (svazzo) I can safely say Murano. It's that word ASSume that bugs me. I'd rather know for sure, ha.

Thanks again

Kelli

A bowl of this design in a different color is shown on page 153 of Leslie Pina's Italian Glass Century 20. It is attributed to Barbini -- always nice to have a documented piece of glass. I'm surprised that Svazzo doesn't have it attributed to Barbini. Maybe he knows something I don't -- actually he probably knows a lot that I don't. The bowl is a ribbed cased design with gold.

So, yes, it is Murano. Even better, it is a Barbini design.

I just checked Svazzo's store and saw he also has the design listed as Barbini at http://www.trocadero.com/svazzo/item...tore.html#item.

Anita, YAY! How exciting! I looked at www.svazzo.com, clicked on "oversized" and it shows my bowl - with the info that it's a new item, and details are "to come". I didn't even look further, once I saw that - THANK YOU so much!

Anita, thank you SO much! YAY, I'm excited! When I looked at svazzo.com, I clicked on the "oversized" link - and it shows this bowl there, but it says that "details to come" so I didn't look further there.

I really appreciate the info, and now can present it properly!
