Would these be considered "generic" Murano glass, or could they be attributed to certain makers? Thanks!

To me the first is a contemporary piece, possibly Chinese. I have seen a lot of similar pieces with large murrine lately. Your 2nd piece looks more like Vintage Murano, possibly Barbini?

Thanks for your response! I don't think the first is a Chinese import. I have seen large murrine in Fratelli Toso bowls and also AVeM. This form is pretty common with Murano glass too, though the size is large (10") compared to those similar pieces I've seen. I could, of course, be mistaken, but I do think it is Murano glass.

The top one looks Toso style, though 5 bends is unusual and I really hate it because the colors and the design don't work for me and do scream Chinese, I hate to say. If it is a copy, at least they got some shape elements down, if they did make a stinky disaster of the inclusive design. There is a reason China isn't known for great artistic design. It's like White guys trying to dance to hip hop or Mexicans doing dry wall, pretty sad.
I like Barbini for the Vase though I don't really have a good reference, it has a Barbini feel to it though it's a little simple for their style, it's a sweet rustic beauty who ever did it. |
