this is a phenomenal murrine bottle - it is the size of a toilet bottle - not a decanter - it is the EXACT same colors as both Venini and Barovier used in thier patchwork/pezzato vases - amethyst and yellow/gold which the guides call "earth tones" - I know that because I found a Barovier Pezzato a few years back for $100 that fetched $4199.99 so I have been up close and personal - I have a Fulvio Bianconi feeling about this bottle - any insights?

I can see this being Barovier as well, the colors and design match others that I have seen (alas not owned ) A second long shot idea crossed my mind as well, have you considered Vistosi?, the pattern and shape of the bottle looks like something they may have done.

when you say "the colors and design match others that I have seen " are you specifically taking about murrine - or other Barovier patterns?
This piece has an entire polished bottom - I am adding a few more piccies - any other insights highly appreciated! |

I have checked various sites and cannot find an example of Barovier's work with this type of murrine. The clarity of the crystal makes me wonder if the paperweight/bottle might be from north Europe. Colors are not reliable for identification because they are easily replicated. There is a superficial resemblance to Barovier's pezzato, but I don't see any "seams" in the glass where the pieces were fused. I am not certain if the piece is Murano. Any other ideas out there?
