Default New Bowl

Just got this bowl today. I believe it is Murano in origin, it is the same exact color as a Seguso shell that I have. Was I correct?

An interesting piece, I can't say that I have ever seen one with a protruding base before. Was it meant to be mounted in a stand or a larger sculpture?

I have no idea. I bought it off the shelf the way it looks. It seems like it might have been designed for that because it will tip over pretty easily with the base being so long. It stands up perfectly straight on the base though.
