Default First post here

Hello.. First post... Hate to ask but does anyone know what I have here? Are they worth much?
My mother passed Dec of 2000 and these and many more collcitables were handed to me. Thinking of passing them to my kids.. The boat signature I just can't seem to find anything . I guess I am spelling the name wrong..
Thanks

Hi Mutt, both objects are Murano glass. The boat is made by Elio Raffaeli a Murano Glassmaster.
The fish is made in the factory of Gino Cenedese & Figlio. Both have a good value, depends on the dimension and the condition (damages, scratches etc)

Anyone has some informations about Julio Tosi? Glassmaster or designer?

Horst

Thanks for the info.. I just couldn't read the signatures right. I did some poking around on the internet for Tosi and found this page

http://www.muranovenezia.com.au/artists.php?ID=10

Kinda figure it could be the same person. As far as my pieces.. They were in a glass showcase when my mother had them and have been sitting out collecting dust in 70° year round here . To big for my curio cabinet.. They are both heavy. The boat measures 24 1/2 tall...19" front of spinnaker to stern with a width of 7" at the widest point. The boat itself is in a "cobalt blue" in color. No scratches except for what you see in the picture by the name..
The fish is really cool. The lines in the glass twist evenly. It is 19" long and 6 1/2 tall with about a 3/4 to 1 inch in width. No scratches or repairs on either. They should make great items to pass on to my kids for sure.

I believe the signature is Fabio Tosi. He worked with Cenedese and did several of their designs.

I have gained a great appreciation for the work of Elio Raffaeli. I think Elio is under-appreciated in the US. He is quite the glassmaster.

Hi Anita,
thanks for Fabio Tosi information, you are right. Additional note for my private library. I agree with the appraisal of Elio Raffaeli´s work.
Received today a runner duck with export label of Archimede Seguso but I´m not sure. I will post it later.
Have a nice day.

I'm going to look an see if I can get a better pic of the signature for Tosi. My mom had a way that she knew how much she paid for items by using the word CUMBERLAND. 10 letters ..no duplicate's.. So the tape on the bottom of this is LBUDD which comes out to 742.00..what she paid back in 1983 for it.

CUMBERLAND

742.00

Mutt, your mother have had a crazy idea to hide something.
Here a link to Elio Raffaeli:http://www.arsmurano.it/eng/raffaeli.php

Elio Raffaeli also worked together with Roberto Cammozzo for Livio Seguso.
