Found this vase yesterday in a charity shop. The price was 10, cause I knew what it is I paid 20.
I knew itŽs in "Leslie Pina - Archimede Suguso - mid-mod glass from murano - page 72". But I wonder about the Seguso Vetri dŽArte label and engraved signature. I know the A.Seguso was master glassblower at S. V. dŽArte until 1942 and opened his own company in 1946. My opinion is that S. V. dŽArte executed the earlier design of A.S. around 1950/55 as the label says. Any other ideas? Height 17,5 cm Diameter 11,5 cm |

It may have been executed by AS for SVdA. Many designs from SVdA were also produced at Archimede's firm later on. Looks like the real SVdA piece to my eyes. At least you have the signature and label to prove it wasn't produced at AS. Very good buy!

Archimede may have executed some things for VdA even after he left. Sometimes I see things that were said to be made by him for them that would have dated later than I would expect. Another possibility is that there was a mistake in Pina's book. This would not be unusual. I have found several in her books.

Thank you very much for your useful comments and arguments.
I believe it doesnŽt matter whether its AS or SVdŽA. Finally I hope Leslie Pina didnŽt a mistake. Horst |
