Default Help with pricing Livio Seguso sculptures

I have inherited 3 Livio Seguso sculptures. One is similar to Il Gioco circa 1980 clear glass and stainless steel. The other is similar to L'Infinito 1986 and lastly Conraputto 1983. Two of them are signed but the tall one is not. However, it was taken from his personal garden while I was there, if that means anything. I would like to know if anyone knows what these are worth, and the best way to sell them. Thanks!

Default Livio Seguso

Hi Dustin77 these are statement pieces and fall outwith the normal vases bowls and animals, that normally appear ,so with that in mind I suggest you either find a qualified glass appraiser or an auction house with a track record in quality Murano glass, any providence you have, about the pieces would help ,perhaps a picture of the item in situ in Livios garden would help sell the items.I hope others will assist about auction houses if you reside in U.S P.S I have just viewed items like yours by Livio Seguso in a museum in Japan so in your best interest dont sell these ,without seeking professional advice.Cliff

Hi and welcome Dustin77,

Hopefully I can be of some help here. I do not live in your area but I did some internet searching at some local auctions in your area an came up with an auction house for you that I hope will work out for you. The name of the auction house is A.N. Abell Auction Company and one of the things they specialize in is glass or at least that is what they advertise on their website. It appears they only auction high end items, which is what you have. I have a feeling your Livio Seguso sculptures are worth a considerable amount of money. They are NOT Ebay items that is for sure (Cliff is right). I wouldn't know where to begin where to price them either. I think you have some substantial pieces of true art at it's finest. If it were me I would keep them but I know they are not everyone's cup of tea. Thanks for showing them to us. They are amazing work by an amazing artist.

*Note* Something that not everyone knows about Livio Seguso - he is not only a Murano artist he is also a German artist. He also worked for Gral Glass in Germany at one point or he did some commissioned work for them (the history is kind of unclear. Still trying to sort that part out because it is not documented.)

I agree with everyone, this isn't an ebay item! You have a lot of great advice already, but also consider giving Rago Arts in NJ or visit antiquehelper.com, both companies have frequent Murano auctions and can assist.

Ripley handled a Livio Seguso simple oval form that I could find. You can see it at http://www.antiquehelper.com/item/314115. They may be able to help you put a value on your pieces.

That's great! Thank you so much for the help. Believe me, I do not want to part with these beautiful pieces. I think they are extraordinary and I love them. However, economically I might have to bite the bullet so to speak.

I just looked at the Livio Seguso site and saw several sculptures that were in the same spirit as yours. One from the 60-70s looked like one of yours. The website is only in Italian at the moment, but it is easy to navigate through the sculptures. The link is http://www.livioseguso.it/. If you use the contact email, you may be able to find out more about your sculptures.
