Hi All,
I wondered if these two ewers are murano glass? (and if they're worth anything?). I haven't been able to find anything online similar to compare them with. Many thanks in advance for any help. Kind Regards |

Hi Lizzie the answer is they could be , but they have more of a Bohemian look to them to me, they had the gilding and romantic scenes , I know Salviati made ewers, but not seen any like yours, they have a value but not into large sums.No marks or labels attached that would help Cliff

This kind of stem is common for glass from the Empoli-Florence area. So I would say the ewers are Italian, but probably not from Murano... but I could be wrong, since I don't know the specific designs.

Hi I think Anita has got it right nothing about them says Murano ,I tend to forget about Empoli ,but I think she is right here neither the twist stem or handle evokes Murano ewer handles tend to balloon out and extend above top of ewer and are plain in construct ,so I agree with Empoli as likely maker.Cliff

I just saw a Bell Glass, Murano, decanter in another thread: http://www.fossilfly.com/Forums/show...=8319#post8319. This looks like the same type of stem to me, only without the gold. I have quickly changed my mind. I am so glad the Bell Glass decanter was posted. All twisty stems are not Empoli/Florence. (Really, the spiked form puzzled me when I took a good look at it. Now I understand the probably-why.)
