Great Glass Co.UK lists (http://www.great-glass.co.uk/glass%20notes/mans-s.htm)Saxony Glass as Sachsenglas, VEB which has a website here:

http://www.sachsenglas.de/index.html

but it looks like they primarily make tempered and sheet glass rather than decorative, as least today.

If its not sachsenglas, you may be correct in it being an importers label

Hello Chriscooper,

your guess is correct.
There were some companies in Germany imported glass from Murano, but only in West Germany. Sachsenglas VEB was in the GDR and they had not the foreign currency. I think this glasart is imported after the reunion.

Horst from Germany

Good observation regarding the currency, its not something that I would have considered.

Thanks for the information, can I safely assume he was made on Murano and exported to Germany?
Any thoughts from style and colours who could have made him?
Thank you Chris
