Default wine bottle of any value?

I have this old 1964 Chiantu Raspollini italian green glass wine bottle in a really neat shape, it has a spout and the middle part has a spot that was blown in forming some kind of pocket, it looks like a spot to store the corks! It is in its original decorative holder, a weaved basket! It also says produced and bottled by Luigi Raspollini Poggibonsi. There is a label on other side that says imported by O'Donnel Importing Co. Detroit 7 MI. Anybody know if bottle has any kind of value??? I have know idea if bottles like this are worth anything, it was among my buried pile of glass items! Thanks.

Thumbs up Hi...

Hi there:
I do not think it is Murano glass -- but it is an Italian Bottle as I have something similar.

As a member here on Fossilfly (FF) and (GMB) as many other Murano Collectors -- I will show you the post of my bottle. CLICK HERE

The inside pocket was to hold ICE, while around that pocket would be the Wine.

I am pretty sure the designs are for the same thing.

Hello antiquerose123! Thank you very much for the info and sharing the post of your bottle. I would have never thought of using it for ice but it makes sense now, how clever! Do you know if it has any value? I would just like to sell it. When I do I will use e-bay link on this site which I just remembered you have! Thank you again.

Hi, Valleygrub. These types of green chianti bottles were usually made in the Empoli area of Italy. They are good decorative pieces, but have no real collector value right now, probably because they are abundant.

I didn't know about the ice pocket, very ingenious. I wonder why this isn't still done today..

We all learn something new. I was totally baffled by mine too.

Why isn't this done today -- because it was actually a smart design. Now days everything is made so poorly.

Just to *MAKE IT* would take some thinking.....I think -- Someone much more clever than me...

If it's been done anywhere at any time, it's still being done in China. For example, (and it's quite well made)
