Default Is this a Venini Bull?

Hello,
here I have a beautiful and rare piece of Murano. Green glass, with a slightly
Shimmer.
Hight: 20 cm - length 24 cm and weight 2,7 kg.

A Torrero with a bull. Below, an old paper label on the stands: Venini 3 / 3.
Is it really a Venini work? What Value may have this work?

Thank you so much for your help and interest

JeanyB

JeanyB, what a magnificent piece of glass. Venini usually signed their work, but there are some pieces that are not signed. I would believe it was Venini if someone said for sure that it was. The sculpture itself reminds me of something that either Barovier & Toso or Barbini would make. (Fratelli Toso also did some pieces with faces similar to this, but I've not seen this type of glass done by them.)

The problem with a rare piece such as this is that there are no records out there to check. Perhaps you can send an email to Venini to see if they have the piece in their catalogs. It would be nice to get confirmation. If they say no, I bet it is by one of the other two companies I mentioned.

I must say what a piece! I am leaning towards the Barbini theory myself. I guess because it looks like his style to me but that is my opinion. No matter it is a true piece of art!

Barbini executed some of the pieces designed by Martinuzzi and Bianconi, so many times the looks intersect. When I was trying to find something about this statue, I found a scavo bull that was said to be designed by Bianconi and executed by Barbini. It was signed Barbini. It can certainly be perplexing without knowing the history of a design. I would have never thought Bianconi was linked to the bull.

I am intriqued by JeanyB's sculpture. The glass reminds me of Ferro's anse volante with the color of Barovier and the artistry of Barbini. It is a wonderful piece of art.

Default venini bull

Hi Jeanyb ,that label l think is a red herring ,l have never seen a venini label such as yours,A Seguso made a series of large animals in 1938 ,but only 1 known bull ,that was in clear glass.Barbini is known for large pieces with animals with figures atop as in Don Quixote horse and rider from 50s.as your other pieces come from this 50s period l think ,could that label be an auction label mis -attributed to Venini, this piece needs a lot of investigation start by contacting Venini send pic nothing shouts Venini about it to me what it does shout is quality lucky you. Whoever made it this is the best of the items you have posted, as to value could leave the other two pieces well behind.Cliff

If we consider the Venini attribution is not right, it does open the door to some other possibilities. The three that are in my mind are Barovier, Barbini, and one of the Segusos. I've hunted around for some similar iridato pieces today, but my computer has come up empty of any solid answers. Maybe we will stumble across it soon. I would love to know who made it.

I took a look through the Venini Catalogue Raisonné and didnt see anything similar. I agree that the label isn't typical of Venini.
