Hi, I found today this small bowl or vase and it remanded me of one of those Murano glass technique but I never had any chance to see it other than on the pictures. It has one chip but anyway I end up buying it as I was intrigued by this very unusual look. Any idea???

It is scavo. The form reminds me of some of the vases by Barovier, Seguso, & Ferro (the fore-runner to Seguso VA) or Martinuzzi. I haven't seen your specific vase, though. It looks like a good one.

, Thanks Anita, That means Murano is now in my blood and my visit to Venice was well worth as i bought it with pure instinct, Only, I have to say that I am not big admirer of that technique. It's a shame about damage as probably it will be worth a few quid on ebay as I am saving some money to visit Venice again this year. |

Scavo is not my favorite, either. I think a lot of people feel that way. I'm always surprised to see a Barbini/Cenedese scavo piece go for almost nothing. A lot of scavo is made as tourist glass. These pieces aren't signed. The handles on your raises it above that class, IMO. Your vase has handles that are very well done. A good bit of work went into your vase.
