Hello

I have this monsterous Murano "Vessel". It must weigh around 40-50 lbs since it max-ed out my postal scale. Its huge with a height of 11 inches, a widest diameter of about 11 inches, a circumference of 36 inches and a thickness of 1/2 inch at the top lip (probably the thinest part!) Its in perfect condition and is signed on the polished pontil base: "Seguso V. D'Arte" I believe it was made in the 1960's.

Its basically an aquamarine glass with the purple and white stripes revealing the interior at window-like areas. The interior is a turquoise color, and there is an applied opaque white band around the top of the vessel. Its certainly the largest piece of Murano I have ever owned!
From What I can tell its probably a Pinzoni Era Creation. I guess I have two questons, does anyone know the time frame of its creation, and secondly whats the value?

Thanks in Advance!
AFT

Thats an impressive piece! The signature looks like it is from the timeframe you mentioned, as in the 60's and 70's a "thicker" signature was used more often. However, I have not seen anything similar to this, as it is unusual. The basic heavy robust design is definitely Seguso, but beyond that, I am uncertain. I wish I could be of more help.
Do you have any more information on the item?

Thanks!
I don't have much to go on, except that it was with a variety of things dating to the 1950's - 1960's. I looked at a few pieces and the closest ones I could find were 1952-68 era, it looked more like an incalmo piece and a Colorri Sovraposte Vase. I've asked Ragoarts for consideration in their Modernist Auction this Fall, I will add their remarks when I hear back from them. I think by sheer weight, It must have taken a team to create it! It reminded me of Dale Chihuly because of the grandness and wild coloration of the piece.

You may want to try another Murano Glass Forum at www.glassmessages.com (http://www.glassmessages.com), the members there are very knowledgeable, and may have seen something similar or at least steer you in the right direction. If you learn any more about the piece I would be very interested as well!

AFT, Thanks for the extra photos, however it still doesn't look like anything that I have seen in the past, or in any of my books. As far as value, I really cannot give you an answer. If you do learn more about it, please post, as I would be interested in learning more about it.
