Visiting Venice

Hello,

I am so happy I found this forum! I have always love Murano glass and I am going to Venice for the first time in September. I plan on buying some glass, particularly jewelry. For anyone who has been to Venice, do you think it's better to buy glass in Venice or on the island of Murano? I was thinking I might get a better deal in Murano. Any information you have on your trip would be appreciated.

I would definitely buy on the island itself, you can usually find a wider selection, and the prices are often better than the ones found in Venice. As you probably already know, prices in Venice are astronomical, but then again, it is a major destination in Italy. I would suggest taking a the vaporetto to Murano, its cheaper and you can leave the island to return to Venice anytime you want. Dont forget to haggle! All prices are negotiable, but don't forget that they have to make a living as well. Enjoy your trip
