I would like to know if anyone can identify a piece of glass I own as Murano? It is also signed.

Birds are a very popular item made in Murano, there is another recent posting with an item very similar to yours. I will take a look at some of my books for a signature that matches.
Do you have any other information about the item?

The only information I have is that it was in this persons possession for about 40 years. I bought it from her estate.

Stylistically, it does look like it is from Murano, but the signature doesn't look familiar. It seems to be the signature of an artist, rather than the insigna of a particular manufacturer. I think if the artists name were uncovered it would help significantly (I had trouble making out the name)

Hello.I am new to this forum and posted in Worth/Value? By enormous coincidence I thought perhaps here would be the more appropriate place to ask the ? about individually signed or attributed pieces. Wanting the biography of an individual maker.
WOW!!! Amazingly this Pink Bird and signature is here...I looked at the special site for the fairly young artist/glass sculptor ? Raffaele and think it is not him as would perhaps be a bit younger. The signature is v.v.similar to one on a piece I have. Bought at Murano in 1985. I know we have the receipt somewhere(it turns up regularly).
It is an abstract approx. 50cms tall overall. Very heavy. Completely solid weight.
The base is grey/black cloudy-smokey 12cms square with amoeboid double figure on top......mother and child....fluid and caressable. No features just changes in size.Mesmeric to touch.
Since then we collected various other pieces, usually with some colour....vases, plates(tazza) etc....with a little special jewellery as 'occasion gifts' to me from husband.
Going through these things now as he recently passed away and I need to make a little catalogue for my daughter and future identification.
I know you usually like a picture. Unable to process at present. BUT thought it most interesting that these signatures seem so similar.
Any info. from those who might know????? Most appreciated. Some things just don't seem necessary or so important until death or the like put perspective and desire into a situation otherwise taken for granted.

Hi Jo-Ann and others,
A 'pop in' to this and other site Art Glass Club Forum, after a break has a wonderful post from Gnome-de-Plume with references and sample signatures from other work and Raffaeli's own 'arsmurano' site which shows clearly the ame signature.
There is a good history and other references.
Many thanks due there.
