Hello
I have a number of plates which are cobalt blue in colour with a white or gold lace design, they are stamped Testolini Venezia. I have done some research but can only find Testolini as glass makers linked with Murano.
Are these one and the same factory that branched out into porcelain?
I am hoping someone can give me some further info please
Here is a link to one of the plates

Thank you

The lace pattern of the plate looks like Testolini. Testolini has a long history in Italy. They did some work for Salviati in the 19th Century and later bought one of the companies. It would not be unusual for glass decorators to cross over to porcelain. The merletto design on the plate does look like their work, so I would say they are one and the same.

BTW, do you think the plate is 19th-early 20th Century? The glass plates I've seen with similar decoration were from this time.

Thanks Anita for your reply
Its very difficult to date the plates, they have handwritten backstamps in gold Testolini Venezia with what appears to be a gold star. As i cant find a reference for Testolini marks i'm kinda stumped
