View Full Version : Is it a duck or what?

My mother gave me this glass figurine that she calls a duck. It measures 10" tall, and is green.
My questions are:
1. Is it a duck?
2. Is the texture at the forehead a consequence of manufacture, or a flaw?
3. Does anyone know who made it, and when? There is a gold Murano sticker on its chest.
4. What do you think its value would be if it did not have a broken toe, and does it still have value as is?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Hi, oldschool. Yes, it is a duck. The spot on the forehead appears to be a manufacturing flaw from tooling the duck. Your duck is made in the style of Barbini, but I do not think it is by them. The shape of the bill is different.

Hope this helps a little.

Thank you TxSilver. I thought it may have been a goose.
It does have a Murano sticker, but it seemed in an odd place on the breast.

Hi Oldschool!

Is it possible for us to see a pic of the label? I did notice it on it's chest. I have seen some placed on their chests before. Kind of looks like a Galliano Ferro label from the view I see the duck in. :D

Here is the label, or what is left of it. Only the name Murano can be seen. It is gold in color. Even if it is genuine, I'm sure the broken toe would hurt it's value significantly.

Thank you for the welcome! This forum is a wealth of knowledge!
