Hi all... I've recently bought a large decanter possibly 1970's, with VM or MV with the letters overlapping, stamped on the base... I thought it may refer to Murano, Venice but am unsure... Does anyone know?

Kind regards... Lili.

I checked www.myinsulators.com/glass-factories/bottlemarks.html#ABCDEF and found the below as a possibility. The author wrote:

"M over a V, within a circle............Vidriera Monterrey, Monterrey, Mexico (1909-19??). I am not sure of the dates of use for this mark. Also, see the "V" mark, and the "V over M inside a triangle" marks."

I don't know anything about the company or the evolution of their marks, but thought it could be a possibility... especially considering that Mexico makes a lot of glass that looks a bit like Murano.

Hi... Thanks for your input. From what I can find it seems the mexican mark is MV within a perfect circle and not at all like the seal like stamp on this piece. I must say it was interesting looking at the monterrey work though.

I'm still baffled by this piece. I'm a collector of scandinavian glass, primarily although I do have a few choice pieces of Murano, And although this work fits in very well, it's always satisfying to know by whom it was made... I'll just have to keep on searching...

Many thanks again for your help...

Kind regards...

Lili.

Dear Glass Experts,

During our resent holliday to the french meditaranian cost near Menton I saw on a table with assorted junk a nice vase. It has the same labels as the vase from Lili Spain, with maybe the exeption that it is "pate de verre". I'm not a glass collector and have little knowledge on the subject. I just bought it as a souvenir instead of the usual junk.

I have searched the internet high and low to find if the maker is still working. If possible can somebody give me a website or some more background information, maybe a book I could buy?

I include a few pictures, and the Labels read:

Bob le Bleïs Créateur
Les Verriers de Maure - Vieil Mandelieu - La Napoule (France)

páte de verre

RF 52D Noir ?ais

How old will this piece be and what is the possible value? I paid 40 Euro's (60 US dollars) dollars for it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards, Arthur
