Hi there, I was wondering whether anybody could help me with valuing some glass I bought whilst in Venice, Italy in 1987. It is a decanter with six tumblers, blue glass with gold designs around them. It is in it's original box, the shop was A Trevisan & Co. I have attached some photos but they do not show up the blueness of the glass as it should.
Appreciate any help
Thanks
Kerrie

Thankyou
At this stage I can only send one photo of the decanter as all my other photos are too big!!!!
The label on the box is:
Murano Glass
A. Trevisan & co
S. Marco, Ponte dei Dai
Venezia
I remember them telling us this glass was unbreakable!, and they were cracking them against the table.
I paid $600 for them back in 1987 and I have searched different shops on the web in Italy and have not been able to find these particular sets.
Appreciate any comment
Cheers

Is this the store you purchased it from? Just happened to come across it while googling ""A. Trevisan".
do you know who made the set? Amy marks or labels besides the Trevisan info?

Hi there,
Yes this is the store I bought it from, sorry but no idea you made it I was only 21yrs at the time and didn't think of things like that!!
I had a look last night, but as far as I can tell there are no marks or signatures.
Cheers

Hi. Sorry to get back to you later than expected.
With vintage Murano glass, attribution determines value in most cases. Most pieces are sold without attribution and this tends to keep prices lower on the secondary market (ebay etc). Since its considered tableware (art glass or vases command higher prices generally) and, at least for now, cant be attributed to a well known mfr or artist, you would not get what you paid for it if you resold. :( You may want to contact the store that sold it to ge more info?
