I am wondering if this is authentic. The bottom of the vase says Italy 1598. I'm wondering if this is just a serial number or if it is really a date it was made. The writing on it looks so old and there seems to be a lot of "dirt" over top of the printing that doesn't rub off. This has been in the family for a very long time-at least 60 yrs or more. Just wondering what anyone thinks about it. I know it is childish looking but I've never seen anything like it. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
