I would like to know what the numbers/letters mean on the bottom of this vase, and also is it worth anything. It has been in the family for as long as I can remember. Any information you can give me would greatly be appricated.
Thank you
Gail

Hi Gail,
It would be most helpful if you could post a picture of the vase and a picture of the letters/numbers on the vase. The numbers and letters could mean a lot of things.
Thanks,

I noticed Gail posted some pictures, but we aren't able to see them yet. Maybe the problem will be fixed soon. I have the feeling that the vase may be pottery or a molded glass piece from the description. Let us know if you need some help with the images, Gail.

Hi, Gail. Your vase looks like it is ceramic or porcelain to me, and not glass. Perhaps someone from the pottery section will recognize it. Sorry I can't help more.

Hey Gail,
I think Anita is right. It is a very nice vase though. I hope someone can help on the pottery site. Sorry I can't be of much help.

Each company in Italy uses its own system of numbering. These internal codes may have meaning to the importer or they may represent inventory codes or mold numbers, batch numbers, style codes, etc.. Such codes are generally of no use in identifying Italian pottery. Since the piece does not indicate the manufacturer you will probably never be able to determine who made it. Generic pieces of this kind only have decorative value, which is to say that it is of no real interest to collectors of Italian pottery.
