Hello everyone,
I have recently obtained this Italian bowl it's about 9" across and 3.5" tall I was curious about age and possibly a maker for it this is some info I have gathered so far from other forums
"I don't believe that this is a factory mark but rather a design added to the bowl by one of the factory decorators. Often, in the early part of the 20th century a newly hired decorator-in-training would be instructed to apply various decorations to the underside of a piece of tableware (stovigliere in Italian) as a means to practice his or her skill before moving up to actually being allowed to decorate pieces. I believe that this is just such an example. This bowl is beautifully executed and although we don't know who the manufacturer is it is obvious that that this was a quality company." here are some pictures that will hopefully help in adding to this diagnosis
