Hello from Italy !

Hi all, just a quick hello from Italy. I work for a Murano glass company in Italy although we are not based in Murano. ( Saying this we purchase all glass, millefior's from Murano and then make them into items by hand in our factory - if its good enough for 2000+ shops we have in Italy......????. I have worked for the company for just over a year and have found this site very informative and interesting. The glass the company I work for is the fused kind not the blown kind unfortunately, but it is very very popular here and all over the world. I was lucky enough to visit Murano a few months back and was amazed at the diversity of the shops. For example a shop selling chandeliers at €15k euros plus each next door to a crap souvenir shop selling "Chinese Murano Glass" If you have any questions feel free. JD

Hi, JD, and welcome! Which glass company do you work for?

I heard that many of the Venetian shops are loaded with Chinese glass that is priced like it is from Murano. I read a while back that much of the Chinese things had Murano stickers on them. Is that still a problem? US stores are also loaded with Chinese things. I've had people show me contemporary Chinese pieces and tell me it couldn't be, because they had bought it at an antique store. Stores often buy the cheaper Chinese pieces to help them make a few dollars. It would be okay if they didn't lead the customers to believe they were buying something different.
