These look very similar to some Zanetti sculptures on their site here:

I still can't figure out the Peometeo? Promrtro?

It seems similar to promovetro, but the organization (www.promovetro.com) was created in the 1980's, and companies normally didn't add it to their signature.

It's really beautiful, whatever it is. If you search "prometeo Murano" in quotes like that, you will get a couple of hits in reference to a horse sculpture with what sounds like similar coloration. No photos, unfortunately.

Alfredo Barbini did a male torso in green with a corroso surface, not quite the same style as yours but close

I was hoping to win this one on ebay, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen! :)

Hi; Promoteo is Italian for Prometheus (the one who flew too close to the sun). Barbini made a famous series of torso figures that are somewhat similar and he called them "figures in the sun". It is unusual that he did not sign this one if it is his work. It is very Barbini in style and quality.

I believe you're thinking of Icarus. Prometheus was the one who stole fire from Zeus and gave it to the humans. Then was punished by being chained to a rock forever.

I was wondering whether Prometeo was a name in common use in Italy, or if it had something to do with the mythology. I am in love with this piece whatever the case. It's gorgeous.

Does anyone know the final close price on this? I am just curious. Earlier in the week it was around $225.
