I have been trying to find out some more info about this piece (of what I think) is Murano glass. It was a present from my Mum about 10 years ago. She bought it at a collectibles fair in Brighton for £20. I am just trying to find out it's date / history / possible value. The dimensions are:
Height at tallest point: 6.5cm
Width at widest point: 18cm
I have no intetion of selling it but it would really thrill my mum if I could find out more and if she thought it was worth something!
Thanks for any help

Miniminx, I took a look at your pictures, I would guess that its a Fratelli Toso bowl, who are known for making wild bowls, many with gold powder. It was probably made sometime during the 50's and 60's. She paid a fair price, Its probably worth the same amount today. Does it have any labels?

Several artisans made bowls similar to this. I see these types of cased bowls most often attributed to either Seguso or Fratelli Toso. The dark swirls make me favor Fratelli Toso as the maker. Toso included swirls in many of their pieces made in the 1950's. I've seen a few of their bowls made during this time that looked similar to their Starry Night pieces. Your ashtray reminds me of Starry Night.
Toso is only a guess. The more I learn about Italian and Czech glass, the less sure I am about who made most of the glass. Whoever made your bowl, it is beautiful. I love the color. Turquoise is my favorite.
