An unusual Murano Ashtray/Bowl in an Irridescent surface, with Orange colors. Has an oval geode shape, with the indents on the ends of the bowl used to place cigarettes. The rim is about 3/4" wide! Very hard to photograph. Has NO damage. In Excellent Condition. Measures 6 1/2" x 5 3/4" x 2 1/4" high and is very heavy.
My Mother gave this to me some 35 years ago. I have seen one in a different color sell with a dealer. If anyone has any ideas, I would greatly
appreciate any information.
Thank You, Louisiana Treasures

Is there any gold dust in the ashtray, or it it just the surface treatment that makes it look that way?

Hi. I rec'd your PM :)
I can't pin down a specific manufacturer, although the irridescence does make it somewhat unusual. Anyone else have any ideas?
It is a great looking ashtray, I couldn't imagine using it for its intended purpose though!

Hi there,
Thanks for the response. I don't use it for an ashtray, it is too pretty for that. I am attaching a pictures of the exact or almost exact Murano piece.
The color is different and there is no gold dust. This one is the exact same
size and design. This is the one that I mentioned that was sold by a dealer.
His description on his was the following:
Here’s another unusual Murano Ashtray/Bowl in IRIDESCENT or AURENE surface, with Blue Green Sommerso colors. (This is #2 - the first already sold!) Has an oval geode shape, with the indents on the ends of the bowl used to place cigarettes. The rim is about 3/4" wide!!! Would be great for a Tobacciana collector. The pictures do not do it justice. It has a rainbow of colors all over. Very hard to photograph. Has NO damage (chips, nicks, impact marks, or fleabites). In Excellent Condition!!! ............ Measures 6 1/2" x 5 3/4" x 2 1/4" high .........
The dealer did tell me at the time that it sold for $180.00.
If anyone has any ideas, I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi Louisianatreasures! I like both ashtrays, but I would hesitate to pay more tha $75-$100 from a dealer and less on ebay. Ashtrays do not have the cachet of vases and artglass, and typically sell for less. The irrisescence is somewhat unsual, and makes it pop, I like it :-) I agree with Drabkin, I dont know tht you will be able to find the mfr without a lot of research. Good luck!

Thank all of you for your help. At least it gives me an idea of it's worth.
