This piece is unbelievable. It measures 9 inches in diameter, stands 8 inches tall, features superb detailing and inclusions, weighs 13 pounds!!! and is signed and numbered on the base. The problem is I do not if this is a Murano piece because I cannot recognize the signature. Any help would be appreciated. Although just my opinion, I believe this is a high quality piece of glass.

Hi. based on first impressions my first guess would be Archimede Seguso or Barovier and Toso.

Im not too sure.
I would have agreed, the form and design are very Murano, until I saw the signatures, which completely threw me off. If something is signed, its usually the name of the manufacturer, and on occassion, the artist. The series and article number is unique. I cannot make out the signature..what is the name of the artist?

Can you give us more info? Where are the pics from?

Thank you for the reply. I own this piece and I posted them on my hosting server, it is easier than sending pictures.I have been told that this piece was perhaps done by a company named TFZ and an artist named Frattin. Where might I find some information on the company and it's artist.

TFZ internationl's site is: http://www.tfz.it/english.htm, and was begun by Sandro Frattin. I think I have one of their catalogs somewhere to see if the bird dish is in there.

That would be great. My limited research shows that sandro frattin left Murano glass to start the company TFZ. I am still searching to see what else I may find out. Any help is always appreciated

I found the catalog! It doesn't have the exact piece, but it does have many other similar ca'd'oro pieces, including birds; but no bird/bowl combinations.
This is typical, as lines change from year to year.
