Is there a good free site which has Murano signatures for comparrison and possible information on dates for limited production pieces? I am trying to date and find any info on a limited and signed Allesandro Barbaro piece I lucked into. I also am planning on selling it, and would like to know fair market value. It is a 9 inch high elephant with out of this world color and detail.

For signatures, try http://www.the-loschs.com/sigitaly.htm, they have a label and signature section.
Also, if you post a picture of your elephant, members will be able to assist with determining value and authenticity. Have Fun!

Thanks, I couldn't find his signature on that website. I would love to know the date, and value if possible.

Hi. contemporary pieces are much more difficult to price with any reasonable certainty as they are not listed in books or auction catalogs outside a few big names.
The elephant reminds me of the Venini Martinuzzi elephants from the 1920's, similar but in opaque red glass.

A recent Allesandro Barbaro piece sold for $2,500+ here:

Hope this helps a little.

Yes that helps a bit thanks. I sorta suspected that price range. Though in my humble opinion this far surpasses that horse head.
I have already listed this on Ebay, since there are no auction houses in my area. If any one would like to see some really amazing photos of this elephant, just type in Barbaro Murano on the ebay search. It is the only item which currently will come up. I will be a bit sad to see this go, if anyone else could direct me to any pictures of other barbaro pieces I am very interested in seeing them.
Thanks again, Todd
