I am a new "collector" of vintage Millefiori glassware and want to be sure I am buying not only the real thing, but paying the right price. I was told that vintage millefiori has been washed with acid and newer pieces have not been washed that way. Additionally, new pieces have gold flecks in them.
Where can I find more information about millefiori glass and their value?

Pjporter, not necessarily. There have been so many variations on Millefiori during the past 100 years that they defy easy comparison. Fratelli Toso who has made many murrine objects during the early 1900's did often have a matte finish, but not all of the pieces are made in this manner. Many pieces today and in the past do have a polished finish.
I do not believe there are any books specific to Millefiori, but the book "Fratelli Toso" by Leslie Pina is a good start.
For information on a particular piece, post a picture and a description, and the good people of this board will be more than willing to assist!:D
