I have a millefiore lamp base. The original milliefiore mushroomed shape lamp shade has been broken. I have the pieces, but it can not be repaired. I would like to find someone to make a replacement shade. Does anyone know someone to contact about this?

I am new at this. I am attempting to post a picture. There is a picture of the lamp as it is now. Also, there is a picture of the lamp before it broke in the upper left hand of the other photo. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have of it before the shade broke. Hope you can help.

Thanks, Amy

Its a wonderful vintage Millefiori lamp, possibly by Fratelli toso.

Heres a thread about a similar lamp from last year:

Finding a replacement lampshade will not be easy as Ive never seen the shade sold separately. Maybe you can buy a modern version for the millefiori shade, and use the base with another shade. I realize its not ideal, but may be your best option.

This may be a stupid question, but does Fratelli Toso still produce, or is there still a company that does similar work?

Fratelli Toso went out of business in the 80's, much of their Millefiori work was done prior to the 50's. I do wish they were still in business, they are definitely one of my favorites.

You are in luck, Alex. Fratelli Toso is still in business. Unfortunately, they do not produce the millefiori pieces they are famous for. They make lighting. Their web address is www.fratellitoso.it.

Thanks for the responses. That is unfortunate that Toso no longer produces millefiore pieces. Do you know of any manufacturers that do? Also, can anyone interpret Italian. An Italian glass company responded to an e-mail and I need some help interpreting it.

Thanks, Amy

I know zero Italian, except what I can figure on a menu. However, I ve used babelfish, http://babelfish.altavista.com/ to translate. It works OK for basic sentances that aren't too complicated.

Anita, your right!, At one point i could have sworn that I read that they went out of business. Maybe it did go out of business and then they were revived, which seems like a recurring theme with Murano companies. its a shame that they do not produce millefiori like they had in the past.

I posted a note about a broken millifiore lamp shade several months ago. I was looking for a replacement shade. Well, I did not find a replacment shade, but I did find a very similar millifiore lamp and mushroom shaped shade with the help of Giovani Nason. He was very helpful and very prompt in helping me. Very professional. I recommend him to anyone needing help with Murano glass.
